Elijah and Marissa’s wedding at Balmorhea Weddings & Events brought together a chapel ceremony, portraits beside the water, and a reception full of movement and laughter. Their gallery tells the story through both the larger scenes and the small moments: finishing touches before the ceremony, Elijah’s reaction as Marissa approached, and the two of them laughing together outside.
As their photographer, I wanted the photographs to hold onto those expressions while showing the setting around them. This collection of wedding photography at Balmorhea follows their celebration from getting ready to the sparkler send-off.
Getting Ready and Seeing Family
The day’s details introduced a soft palette of white and pale blue. Marissa’s bouquet, sparkling shoes, and wedding dress made a natural opening to the story, with the gown’s lace train displayed beside a mirror. Elijah’s light gray suit and bow tie complemented that palette.
The preparations also made room for people. Alongside hair styling and the placement of Marissa’s veil, the gallery includes warm family greetings and portraits outside. Those photographs give the details their context: this was a celebration shared with the people around them.
A bridal portrait beside the pond shows the full sweep of Marissa’s train, while Elijah’s portrait against the venue’s stonework brings a different texture into the sequence.
A Chapel Ceremony at Balmorhea
Inside the chapel, timber beams and tall windows framed the ceremony. Children walked down the aisle before Marissa entered with her escort. One of the most expressive photographs shows Elijah lifting a hand to his eye as she approached.
The ceremony photographs move between that personal reaction and the room as a whole. A wide view shows the guests gathered beneath the wooden ceiling; closer images focus on the couple’s expressions and hands. Their kiss at the altar and walk back down the aisle complete this part of the story.
For couples researching the venue, Balmorhea Weddings & Events is in Magnolia, Texas, with a chapel, outdoor spaces, and a separate reception ballroom. Elijah and Marissa’s gallery offers a look at how several of those settings can appear in a wedding story.
Family Photographs and Newlywed Portraits
After the ceremony, the chapel became the setting for group portraits. I included a larger family photograph and a portrait of the couple with two children to keep the people in their celebration present in the blog.
The newlywed portraits then shift into quieter images. Black-and-white window portraits emphasize light and expression, including a silhouette of Elijah and Marissa kissing. Outside, the bridge and pond bring green surroundings and open space into the gallery.
Their outdoor portraits have a playful side, too. Marissa laughing with Elijah and the two of them making each other smile add variety alongside the more composed photographs. The lead image brings the couple and Balmorhea’s waterside setting together in one frame.
A Reception Full of Celebration
The reception continued the white and pale blue details through flowers, candles, and a tiered cake. Illuminated M and E initials personalized the room. These images give the gallery a pause before the energy of the celebration picks up again.
Elijah and Marissa shared cake, then danced amid a layer of low fog spread across the ballroom floor. Family dances and a young guest’s delighted turn on the dance floor broaden the story beyond the couple. Later photographs show guests celebrating with light-up sticks and clear umbrellas.
The final sequence follows the celebration outside for a sparkler send-off, with Elijah carrying Marissa through the guests. A photograph of them smiling together in their getaway vehicle closes the gallery on the two people at its center.
